このシャツは、2025年にアーティスト・ワクイアキラが、
葛飾北斎の晩年の創作の地・長野県小布施の北斎館で開催された展覧会「Wave Transitions」を記念して制作したものです。

プリントに使用されたモチーフは、ワクイ自身がキャンバスにアクリル絵具で描いたペインティング作品のディテールを高解像度で撮影し、そのまま生地に再現したもの。
絵具の質感や筆の動きが、パーカーの表面にリアルに息づいています。

葛飾北斎の波と出会ったとき、そこに感じたのは、時代や背景を超えてなお息づく、うねりそのもののエネルギーでした。
この展覧会は、北斎の波を出発点に、
その造形美に導かれるようにして生まれた作品群の軌跡です。
制作の過程で「波」が意味するものは拡張し、
自然の運動、身体の感覚、視覚文化の様式、さらには記憶や祈りの在り方へと広がっていきました。

このパーカーは、そんな思索の波がかたちを得た瞬間を纏うことのできる一枚。
変わり続ける世界の中で、自らの内側にある「波」を感じるためのアートピースです。


This shirt was created in 2025 by artist Akira Wakui to commemorate the Wave Transitions exhibition, held at the Hokusai Museum in Obuse, Nagano—where Katsushika Hokusai spent the final years of his creative life.

The printed design features high-resolution details from an original acrylic painting on canvas by Wakui himself. The texture of the paint and the movement of the brushstrokes are vividly preserved, breathing life into the surface of the fabric.
